Montana Alexander
has become a prominent figure in the art world, now serving as the Chairman and Global Director of Heather James. With her base located between New York City and Connecticut, Montana has played a pivotal role in shaping the gallery’s sales network and overseeing company-wide strategy. Her expertise extends to advising a select group of major art collectors, including several individuals listed on the prestigious ArtNews 200 list as well as emerging collectors.
Since joining Heather James in 2013, Montana has spearheaded the gallery’s expansion into the global secondary art market, solidifying Heather James’ reputation as a leading force in the art world. Her keen eye for exceptional artworks and her passion for cultivating relationships with both private collectors and museums have resulted in significant acquisitions and placements. Montana has recently facilitated the acquisition of works by esteemed artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Winston Churchill, Andy Warhol, Ed Ruscha, Claude Monet, and Mark Bradford.
Notably, Montana orchestrated a major coup for Heather James by securing a substantial collection of Post-War and Contemporary art from the General Electric Company Corporate Art Collection. She also played a pivotal role in organizing two recently critically acclaimed exhibitions, “The Female Gaze,” work by Female Surrealists including Frida Kahlo, Leonor Fini, Leonora Carrington and more, as well as “The Paintings of Sir Winston Churchill,” a touring show of Churchill’s paintings coordinated directly with Sir Winston’s family’s estate.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History and Business Management from the University of Connecticut and completed the Art Business post-graduate program at Sotheby’s Institute in New York.
